Hi-Chew, Toppo Lotte New Japanese candy!

Hi Chew are very popular fruit chews. The mango tastes like a (very) ripe mango. I like the other flavors better as I prefer the taste and aroma of a greener mango.

Toppo Lotte are pretzels filled with chocolate. The perfect mix of sweet, salt and crunch. We will eat more of these!

MORINAGA'S MILK CARAMEL'S

CANDY REVIEW New Japanese treats

Buy Japanese Candy here:

Candy Reviews by Hannah H. (Hannah means 'grace' btw)

This is now my all time favorite candy!"It's not to sweet there was something like a creamy filling that balanced out the sweet. What makes Milkita even better is the candy's cute little cow mascot on each of the candy's wrappers. On each wrapper the cow is doing a different kind of exercise. This treat is incredibly well done and will leave anybody wanting more". Milkita Soccer Commercial

Gummy Choco's are allot like malt balls with a center filling. The milk chocolate outside and the gummy/creamy filling inside makes it an incredible delight". Product of Japan made by meiji.

Seabeck caught Pacific Northwest Spot Prawns

We have had two recent meals of Spot Prawns recently thanks to the generosity of friends- thanks J&G!

Last night I sauteed the peeled spot prawns with Kerry gold herb & garlic butter and a chopped tomato. I served it with steamed broccoli and jasmine rice steamed with Maggi Klare Suppe cube (clear vegetable soup).

Prawn photo is by the Wiggins J/B. Stole it from their cruising blog -awesome pic!
Apparently the Pacific Northwest has been missing Nate's Pickled prawn's (seems wrong..). Here is a recipe for pickled prawns that I admit, I have not tried and probably won't as I'm a butter girl.

Cinnamon Toast from Astoria, Oregon

Looking to buy Cinnamon Toast from Astoria, Oregon?

There isn't any better treat than super crispy cinnamon toast and steamy hot chocolate or cocoa

This toast is super crispy and really dry like Zwieback twice baked toast. My Step Dad ate these dried toasts with hot milk quite often and I am happy to find this cinnamon toast and do the same!

All Cinnamon is not alike, some like cassia, or “bastard cinnamon.” (source “The Field Guide to Herbs & Spices”) is not cinnamon at all! So if it's cheap and touted as real cinnamon under several names: Vietnamese, Saigon, Indonesian, Chinese, Korintje, Dutch or Indian it's actually cassia-type and not real cinnamon.

Cassia has a pungent smell (quite nice) for years after opening leading you to think you will get the punch of cinnamon flavor, you won't.

San Francisco chef Emily Luchetti's broiled cinnamon toast

Broiled cinnamon sugar toast is amazing. Be careful to let it set so you don't scald your tongue!!For best results, use the lighter-colored true cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum or Cinnamomum zeylanicum), which can be found in Latin grocery stores.

8 thick slices brioche or challah bread (may substitute whole-grain bread)

2 teaspoons ground cinnamo

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Directions

Position the top oven rack 4 to 6 inches from the top broiling element; preheat the broiler.

Place the bread on a baking sheet.

Toast bread under the broiler on both sides until golden brown, watch closely as it will burn easily.

Transfer the baking sheet to the stove top (off the heat).

Combine the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.

Spread the butter on the face-up side of each slice, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly over the top.

Return the toast to the oven; broil just until the cinnamon sugar is bubbling.

Make another piece while you are eating the first one; you will want it.

Serve warm. (Citation)

Note: Salted butter can be substituted.-

Makes 4 servings.

We will have real cinnamon in stock mid-next week!

Happy Memorial Day to All!

We love our new email marketing program icontact!

Last year we used constant contact but we were frustrated by not being able to change the template format easily. When it was time to re up our contract I decided to do a quick search and was happy to find a comparison site. It listed icontact as easier to us (and) at a significant price reduction. What the heck we played around with it for part of the 15 day free trial. During which we got an e-mail a day giving really good advice on design, best use -etc. I forwarded most on to friends who have businesses and will be using tidbits in my Marketing

We just sent out our first icontact newsletter this past Saturday afternoon. Today we had nearly 30 orders to put out. We never got a response like that from the other newsletter program. Anyway if you want to check it out at icontact.com or here is a 15 day free icontact page

Happy Days!

Ritter Sport Rum- Coming Soon!

Ritter Sport Rum will soon be in the house!

I am very happy that I will soon be getting these delicious rum flavored mini ritter sports to join my collection of ritter bars. I have the hard to find ritter sport peanut and peppermint. Sadly I don't see the coconut on the ritter sport website so I fear that it is gone. It's a shame if that is true-it was the best coconut chocolate combo invented by humankind ever!
UPDATE ON THE RITTER COCONUT BAR: Sadly a friend who was just visiting Germany said she looked everywhere for a Ritter Coconut bar and had no luck. Sad, sad news.
